Antique Elkington & Co. Silver Plated Sugar Bowl 1865-1897
This vintage silver urn has some unique details, the etching on the outside appears to read CPR. On the bottom is engraved ''31419 Elkington Plate". The stamps on the bottom indicate that this piece is dated between 1865-1897. It has been partially polished to remove the patchy look but has been left with some patina. Could be polished completely if desired. It is in good condition for its age. There is a dent near the bottom of the rim, however, it still sits flat on a surface.
Elkington & Co. are one of the most important names in English silver and certainly the most important in silver plate. They started in Birmingham as a company of silversmiths in 1836, and experimented with improving gilding techniques. By 1838 they had discovered and patented a new way to electroplate one metal onto the surface of another.

The decor I find for my store is in excellent overall condition… most pieces are old, some very old, and they can often show signs of their age and history. These are pieces for people who, like me, want their decor to tell a story; to be a little bit special.
All the antique, vintage and retro treasures you find are discovered by myself locally and left in their original condition unless otherwise stated.
