Gold Framed Painting, 1938

This framed painting is signed by the artist on the back of the picture as well as dated - 1938. The frame and painting are in very good vintage shape. The frame is sturdy and strong. The wood has a lovely old patina. The colouring on the painting is still strong even though this is older.

The back shows age in the paper covering and it is all held in by old tape, I have not altered this as my intent is to leave it in its original vintage state as much as possible. The printing on the back states ' Hand Painted for Ruth Dunn by Rose Meighen (sister in law of Rt Hon Arthur Meighen)'. Arthur Meighen was a Canadian Politician and served as MP, 1908-26; leader of the Conservative Party 1920-26, 1941-42; PM, 1920-21, 1926; and senator, 1932-41.
