Overview of book: A series of books for children written by Arthur S. Maxwell and better known as Uncle Arthur. Born in London, England, Maxwell was the Administrator of the Seventh Day Adventist Church for many years and his stories reflect this and have a continuous theme of Christian values such as kindness, charity, honesty and respect. Uncle Arthur's Bedtime Stories series, first published by Review & Herald as a 10-volume set in 1928, has been reprinted many times over the decades, with the last known printing of the series encompassing more than 40 volumes published in 1983. This book, Volume 3 of the series, is the mid-century edition published in 1951.
